Haleema Kindergarten has arranged a visit of Avalon Firefighters on Friday 12 June 2015 to create more awareness about fire protection. A 30 minutes demonstration included included range of things from use of smoke detectors to fire protection, before children were taken outside (in goups) to view fire engine.

Firefighters discussed and explained what their job entails, and answered questions on use of firefighting apparatus;

  • Use of protective clothing, for body protection
  • Use of an oxygen tank, for respitaory protection and normal breathing
  • Use of a fire extinguisher, to control fire
  • Where to assemble if a fire broke out in their home, by the letterbox so they can all be accounted for easily

Children were dressed in miniature Station 41 clothing and explained an operation of a fire engine (see photos).

We would like to thank the staff of Avalon Fire Station No. 41 for their visit and greatly appreciate their time.
