FOCUS AREAS
Haleema Kindergarten considers children as our future, and believes that the primary key to a bright future is education.
We are a unique centre that offers a curriculum based on Islamic Teachings, Values and Principles that strives to promote an ambience of peace and tranquillity, a sense of tolerance, respect and justice, which is reflective of our name Haleema, who was the kind, gentle, mild-mannered and generous foster-mother of the Prophet Muhammed (Peace be upon him).
Our learning is approached with the intention of developing ‘taqwa’ (a highly developed and profound awareness of Allah [God]) and focuses on the personality and character development of children to become critical thinkers and develop problem-solving skills, through guiding principles of taking responsibility, cooperation, services to others and mutual consultation.
We believe that families are the cornerstones of their children’s education and work collaboratively in partnership to build responsive, reciprocal and respectful relationships with parents/whānau.
We are guided by Te Whāriki, the curriculum of New Zealand Early Childhood Education. We also believe that every child in New Zealand has the right to know and enjoy the dual heritage of Te Tiriti ō Waitangi partners along with their own cultural heritage.
We strive to provide a holistic education and care environment to develop happy, confident and competent children.
We are committed to providing a play-based curriculum, balanced by child-initiative and teacher-participation, in an environment that is safe, meaningful, challenging and inclusive of the diversity of our learning community.
As teachers, we are personally and socially obligated to provide our children with love and care they genuinely need, and protect and respect their rights to nurturing, protection and education.
We believe children’s learning is framed by our teaching practice and therefore are committed to ongoing professional development for both our teachers and our centre.
You must make sure that you register your child for school and take them on some school visits when they are near to turning five.
